triyoga highlight their commitment to promoting healthy minds by launching their two new classes: a 30-minute mindful meditation class and a 30-minute Inner axis class which reduces levels of anxiety. Having a healthy mind supports us to thrive in a range of ways, benefiting us and those around us. It allows us to cope better with everyday stress by improving our outlook and resilience.
In our fast-moving society, our minds are constantly switched on and it becomes normal for our minds to race with thoughts, ideas, images, sounds, hopes and fears. Recently, Prince William and celebrity Lady Gaga got together to discuss mental health issues and highlights how to identify signs of struggling mental health. Celebrities openly speaking about their struggles is making mental health less of a taboo subject which is a positive shift.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction was found to increase someone’s memory and decrease brain cell volume in the amygdala which is responsible for fear, anxiety and stress. These changes matched the participants’ self-reports of their stress levels, indication that meditation not only changed the brain, but changes the feelings as well.
Mindfulness and meditation have always been key to triyoga’s offering but over the last year there has been a significant increase since February where the weekly number of people taking meditation classes and really wanting to focus on their mind as well as their alignment has increased by nearly 50%.
The new 30-minute meditation classes allow people to easily fit a meditation practice into their day.
