Living in London in my twenties with a full on social life and stressful managerial role, I felt burnt out and knew I needed something to counterbalance my lifestyle. I went along to my rst yoga class in a big name gym and quickly discovered I had little body awareness and zero exibility. A seed of determination was sown and I persevered with regular beginners’ classes.
After a few years I discovered Jivamukti and my passion for a dynamic and playful practice. A natural progression into Mysore-style Ashtanga and I found my deepest connection to a yoga practice yet. It taught me discipline, dedication and a focus I’d not encountered before.
In 2012 I embarked on a yoga teacher training with Brian Cooper and I haven’t stopped developing my knowledge since, with three extended trips to India studying in Mysore under Yogacharya Vinay Kumar. I have been privileged to practise under the guidance of John Scott and David Keil and the always-smiling Scott Johnson of Stillpoint Yoga London is my go-to Ashtanga teacher and guide in this method.
I bring the uplifting power of electro and house music to my Vinyasa classes and have created Groove Om Yoga, a sequin-filled yoga experience at boutique festivals and clubs combining Vinyasa ow, a live DJ and audiovisuals. My intention when I teach is to enable my students to feel empowered and be individualistic in their approach; to experience their own path of self-realisation; to practise with joy and to always feel totally supported.
In 2015, together with my friend of over 20 years Naz (a passionate and talented cook), we created Tonic Retreats from our shared love of yoga and food. We return twice yearly to Marrakech, taking residence in a historic tranquil riad, and are hosting Scott Johnson there in October 2017 for a Mindfulness Meditation and Yoga Retreat. Based in Dorset we run New Forest and beach events and private, bespoke retreats in the UK and abroad. With more exotic destinations on the cards we are going from strength to strength.
